The fall season "Najee" MatchPlay Tourney was conceived by members from the Ohio University Open Golf League in 2014, to commence following regular-season league play. The tourney is dedicated to our good friend and avid golfer Najee Muhammad, who joined the Ohio University faculty in 1996 in the Cultural Studies in Education program (Department of Educational Studies). He also served one year as the interim chair of the Department of African American Studies. A diverse teacher and mentor, Najee was a dedicated student of the game, equally enjoying the "lesson" tee as well walking the university golf course and many other surrounding area courses. Najee passed away on March 8, 2014 (read more).
Congratulations to Kyle Linder for just recently winning the 2014 Najee MatchPlay Tourney!
Congratulations to JOSH BOYER for his hole-in-one on hole 5 in his match with James Miranda!

Rules
1. Handicap based Individual Single Elimination match play.
2. 18-hole match play is highly recommended.
3. Handicaps (see below) will be calculated based on your top 5 games during the regular season. The handicap will not change during the fall series.
4. Bracket will be seeded based on the handicap (calculated down to 2 digits below the decimal points. In case of ties regular season personal scores will be considered).
5. Play time is up to you and your opponent. Please communicate with each other and decide on the play time within two week period of each round. I will notify all the winning participants if all the matches are played early and we can start the new round.
6. You may choose to play at any course as long as players agree with each other.
7. USGA and local rules (if any) apply but you may choose to apply other rules based on the course condition, skill levels, etc. It’s all up to the two players.
8. Again, I highly recommend 18-hole round but I understand that some of you may choose to play 9-hole match due to work schedule, etc. and the decision is up to the two players.
9. Please check web page (jump from our league site: http://www.athensgolfleague.org) so that all the members can track the bracket.
No entry fee, no prize money for this year but we may provide excuse to your spouse upon request.
If you have any question please contact me at okada@ohio.edu or 740-707-6340 (in case of text message, make sure to write your name in the message, otherwise I can’t tell who you are) Using a course's slope rating:• Course handicap = handicap index * slope rating/113 For example, if I play at the Oxbow, my handicap will be calculated with my index of 19.6 and Oxbow’s slope rating for white tee of 119: 19.6*119/113=20.6. Round this number to the closest whole number and my course handicap will be 21.• Players must contact each other and schedule their matches
• Unlike the summer team league, there is NO double bogey limit. Holes are played out or until conceded.
